Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 MFI

The Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 MFI from the 1976 model year offered here is one of the rarest and most technically interesting variants of the classic 911 series. It is a Carrera 2.7 with the 911/83 engine type, i.e., the engine that was derived directly from the legendary Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7.

The vehicle has chassis number 911 660 9056 and engine number 6668096. It was first registered on June 9, 1976, in Stuttgart. Of the only around 113 Carrera 2.7 MFI Coupés produced in 1976, a special model offered exclusively in Germany, this example is number 56. The mileage is 75,010 km. The vehicle is in its third ownership.

The car is powered by an air-cooled six-cylinder four-stroke boxer engine with a displacement of 2,687 cm³. The cylinder surfaces are Nikasil-coated, and the fuel mixture is prepared by a Bosch mechanical fuel injection system (MFI). The engine delivers 210 hp at 6,300 rpm and develops a maximum torque of 255 Nm at 5,100 rpm. The maximum speed is 7,200 rpm. Power is transmitted via a 5-speed 915/06 transmission. The unladen weight is 1,075 kg. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 6.3 seconds, and the top speed is 245 km/h. Stabilizers measuring 20 mm at the front and 18 mm at the rear axle underline the sporty character.

The Carrera 2.7 MFI differs from the 2.7 RS from 1973 mainly in terms of the bumper horns and a correspondingly adapted interior, while the technology and performance data are largely the same as the RS. The vehicle thus combines the immediate power delivery and characteristic response of mechanical fuel injection with the advanced safety and comfort features of the later series. The mechanical fuel injection ensures direct throttle response and a distinctive sound that still characterizes the driving experience of the early 2.7-liter Carrera models today. The 1976 Carrera 2.7 MFI was also the last series-production road model from Porsche with mechanical fuel injection.

The model presented here is painted in the original color Z6 brown copper diamond and has a beige faux leather interior with tartan seat center panels. Features include a manual antenna, 5-speed transmission, matte black chrome and anodized parts, headlight rings in the same color as the car, and Cibié auxiliary headlights. The vehicle has been repainted over the years; the roof is still in its original paint.

The vehicle is in very good condition and technically sound. The engine, transmission, and equipment correspond to the specifications of this rare model.
